Each year, thousands of pedestrians are hit by motor vehicles resulting in serious injuries and death. The significant statistics have caught the attention of automotive safety teams, engineers and manufacturers.
Regulations and testing requirements are being put into place to reduce pedestrian to motor vehicle accident injuries and deaths via programs such as, Global Technical Regulation No. 9 and New Car Assessment Programs (NCAP).
Results of these regulations have generated pedestrian protection solutions of motor vehicle components that absorb impact energy during a collision and defers the body to avoid out-of-position injuries.
Pedestrian Protection Areas Include:
- Upper leg
- Lower leg
- Child/adult head
- Pelvic area
